Trucks and SUVs Dominate as Best-Selling Convertibles in America’s 2024 Q1 Auto Sales

Winter is not the best time for convertible sales, as we openly recognize on our Mazda Miata sales tracking page. However, this does not have the same impact on America’s convertible market anymore. Why? Because in 2024, most convertibles being sold are also equipped with four-wheel drive. Yes, four-wheel drive, not all of them. This is because America’s top three best-selling convertibles are trucks and SUVs, surpassing traditional favorites like the Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, and Corvette. This shift in the market shows that the age of the four-wheel-drive ragtop is here.

Jeep Gladiator takes the third spot with 12,989 units sold, almost matching the number of Ford Mustangs sold. The Gladiator’s popularity as a pickup truck is undeniable, and it stands out in the convertible market. Moving up, we have the Ford Bronco at the second spot with 24,066 units sold. The Bronco is competing fiercely with the Jeep Wrangler, and Ford is aiming to become the top convertible seller in the country.

However, at the top of the list is the Jeep Wrangler with an impressive 38,308 units sold. Jeep’s dominance in the convertible market is evident, holding the first and third positions on the list. The Wrangler’s consistent performance and reliability have solidified its position as a top choice for convertible enthusiasts.
