Alfa Romeo reveals Milano as its inaugural full electric vehicle offering

Alfa Romeo has announced its plans to transition to fully electric models in the coming years, starting with the newly unveiled Milano subcompact SUV. While it may also offer an internal combustion engine option, the focus for now is on EV powertrains. One of these powertrains promises to deliver an exciting driving experience.

Staying true to its Alfa Romeo heritage, the Milano features the brand’s signature curvy design with a prominent inverted triangle grille. Boomerang-shaped headlights blend into additional air inlets on either side of the grille. The grille can be customized with different patterns, such as the classic “Alfa Romeo” mesh or the zoomed-in Alfa shield. The rear of the Milano aims to replicate the “kamm tail” of the Alfa Romeo TZ sports car, giving it a solid appearance.

Despite its small size, the Milano measures over 164 inches in length and 70 inches in width, similar to a Kia Soul. It is slightly shorter than a Jeep Renegade but longer than the Jeep Avenger.

The interior of the Milano reflects typical Alfa Romeo styling, with a 10.25-inch instrument screen and infotainment screen. Round air vents frame the dashboard.

Details on the powertrain are still emerging, but the standard versions will feature a 156-horsepower single front motor, while the Veloce model will boast a 240-horsepower motor. Both models will have a 54-kWh battery pack, offering a range of 250 miles on the WLTP cycle for the base model. Performance numbers are expected to be slightly lower for the EPA cycle.

The Veloce model of the Milano offers not only more power but also sits lower on 20-inch wheels, features stiffer anti-roll bars, upgraded brakes, and a Torsen limited-slip differential. This setup promises a thrilling driving experience reminiscent of the Fiat 600e Abarth.

The Milano will be available for ordering in Europe this summer, but unfortunately, it will not be offered in the United States. Alfa Romeo’s U.S. division has confirmed that there are no plans to bring the Milano to American shores.
